Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I use E20 fuel in an older, non-compliant vehicle?

Over time, the higher ethanol content can degrade rubber hoses, seals, and plastic components in the fuel system of non-compliant vehicles. It may also lead to engine knocking and reduced performance. You should stick to E10 petrol.

How do I know if my new car is E20 compliant?

All petrol vehicles manufactured in India from April 2023 onwards are mandated to be E20 material compliant. You can also verify your specific model and year using our homepage checker.

Can E20 compliant vehicles run on E10?

Yes! E20 compliant vehicles are backwards compatible and will run perfectly fine on E10 (standard petrol) or pure petrol without any issues.

What is a Flex Fuel Vehicle (FFV) / E85?

FFVs are specially engineered to run on any blend of petrol and ethanol up to 85% (E85). These are rare in India currently, mainly used for pilot projects. Never put E85 in a standard E20 vehicle.
